P1 AquaX

AquaX is the fastest growing personal watercraft championship in the world. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, yet challenging race format that appeals to today’s personal watercraft users.

This year the program will include the unveiling of a professional level race series and expansion of two further championships in the Great Lakes region of the USA and in Southeast Asia.

Yamaha Europe and P1 AquaX, the international personal watercraft promoter, are extending their partnership from the United States to Europe with the launch of the Yamaha EX/EXR Cup in May.

The standalone competition will run within the P1 AquaX and Jetcross championships at race events in Western Europe and the United Kingdom and be open to the owners of EX and EXR WaveRunners purchased in 2019 through the authorised Yamaha WaveRunner dealer network. Entry to the Cup will be free and also enable the riders to compete in the AquaX and Jetcross classes. Each event in the Yamaha series will operate as a separate Cup competition with trophies being presented on the final day of the race weekend.

Cedric Merlet, Senior Marketing Coordinator at Yamaha Motor Europe, explained: “We have been a major sponsor of P1 AquaX racing in the United States since the series was launched there in 2013, and we have jointly developed this new Cup competition to extend the successful relationship to Europe. At Yamaha we are focused on quality and reliability across our WaveRunner range, and the EX/EXR Cup will reflect this as well as explore the competitiveness and sporty side of the personal watercraft world.”

“This announcement is very much in line with our vision for AquaX in that it directly connects the sport with watercraft manufacturers” said Lisa Barsby, Global Head of P1 AquaX. “We position the our race series as a showcase for taking a craft straight from the showroom floor to the race circuit.”

Yamaha Cup competitors will receive a personalised sticker kit for their WaveRunner watercraft and access to an exclusive Yamaha EX/EXR area within the P1 race centre.

The Cup events will kick off in early May and include a total of eight AquaX and Jetcross race weekends in France, Belgium, Spain and England through to October.
