P1 AquaX

AquaX is the fastest growing personal watercraft championship in the world. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, yet challenging race format that appeals to today’s personal watercraft users.

This year the program will include the unveiling of a professional level race series and expansion of two further championships in the Great Lakes region of the USA and in Southeast Asia.

Powerboat P1, the world’s leading marine motorsport brand, is providing its official safety team with helmets supplied by Gath Sports. Based in Australia, Gath has built a reputation over the past three decades for developing a range of sports helmets that perform to outstanding levels in the most extreme situations and weather conditions.

The experienced and highly trained team of marshals is present at every P1 powerboat and jet ski racing event to ensure the highest standard of safety for competitors. “Partnerships are at the heart of our business” explains Lisa Barsby, Global Head of P1 AquaX, “and on a race weekend nothing is more important than safety for everyone involved. For this reason we are delighted to have a world class supplier like Gath provide our on-water team with their Gedi helmets that combine outstanding impact protection with close-fitting comfort and low drag performance.”

Speaking from its headquarters in Western Australia, Gath owner Ricky James Gath said: “It is important for us to partner with brands that care about safety as much as we do. The team here at Gath is passionate about designing and producing unique products of the highest quality and it’s good to know that our helmets will be protecting the P1 marshals this summer.”

Lisa Barsby added: “We have created a safety ethos in our company and its events which shows itself in our beliefs, planning and behaviour. It’s reassuring to be partnering with Gath across our extensive race calendar this year which sees us staging 20 events in seven countries.”
