P1 AquaX

AquaX is the fastest growing personal watercraft championship in the world. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, yet challenging race format that appeals to today’s personal watercraft users.

This year the program will include the unveiling of a professional level race series and expansion of two further championships in the Great Lakes region of the USA and in Southeast Asia.

P1 CEO heads to Dubai to pursue international expansion

By attracting more teams and building our international television audience we want to return Class 1 to the pinnacle of the sport. Our principal goal is to grow the world championship commercially and promote the series both in the United States, where we have an established and successful series, and internationally to deliver enhanced value for race teams, host venues, sponsors and partners. Our presence here in the Middle East will enable us to identify and explore new opportunities within the UAE and neighbouring countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Powerboat P1, the international marine motorsport promoter headquartered in London, has announced that its CEO, Azam Rangoonwala is moving to the Middle East to open a new office in Dubai.

Azam took up his CEO role in 2018 under the chairmanship of his father, Asif who founded the company in 2002. Over the past two decades, P1 has staged more than 750 powerboat and jet ski races in 19 countries on 4 continents.

Azam has been responsible for developing and establishing the P1 Offshore brand and Class 1 race series as leaders in offshore powerboat racing in the United States, and the company’s aim is to take the sport into the mainstream and enter new markets that feature in its Class 1 globalization plan. “By attracting more teams and building our international television audience we want to return Class 1 to the pinnacle of the sport,” he explained. “Our principal goal is to grow the world championship commercially and promote the series both in the United States, where we have an established and successful series, and internationally to deliver enhanced value for race teams, host venues, sponsors and partners. Our presence here in the Middle East will enable us to identify and explore new opportunities within the UAE and neighbouring countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar.”

Powerboat P1’s broadcast data shows that millions of fans around the world enjoy the dramatic, high-speed action and its diverse offering of Class 1, P1 Offshore and AquaX jet ski racing. “As we embark on our third decade as a promoter, Dubai will become a key regional hub for expansion and partnerships will continue to be at the heart of our business,” added Azam. “I will maintain close links with both our head office in London and racing headquarters in Florida.”
