P1 AquaX

AquaX is the fastest growing personal watercraft championship in the world. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, yet challenging race format that appeals to today’s personal watercraft users.

This year the program will include the unveiling of a professional level race series and expansion of two further championships in the Great Lakes region of the USA and in Southeast Asia.

Celebrating ten years of P1 AquaX racing in the U.S.

It’s hard to believe that 10 years ago P1 AquaX USA began racing at Daytona Beach with just seven riders showing up to race a new endurance format. That year the series grew tremendously, with the number of competitors doubling in number each round.

Powerboat P1 CEO Azam Rangoonwala was presented with a giant birthday cake yesterday on the opening day of the Monster Energy St. Petersburg Grand Prix to mark both P1’s 20th anniversary and a decade of AquaX racing in the United States.

It all began in May 2003 when the very first Powerboat P1 Grand Prix of the Sea launched a new era of marine motorsport. Since then, P1 has staged more than 700 powerboat and jet ski races in 19 countries on 4 continents, including three P1 AquaX world championships.

AquaX racing was launched in the UK in 2011 and successfully moved to the United States two years later. “It’s hard to believe that 10 years ago P1 AquaX USA began racing at Daytona Beach with just seven riders showing up to race a new endurance format,” said Michelle Petro, P1 USA Championship Manager. “That year the series grew tremendously, with the number of competitors doubling in number each round.”
