P1 AquaX

AquaX is the fastest growing personal watercraft championship in the world. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, yet challenging race format that appeals to today’s personal watercraft users.

This year the program will include the unveiling of a professional level race series and expansion of two further championships in the Great Lakes region of the USA and in Southeast Asia.

Sprint Race report – Harry Robinson on form in Porthcawl

First to stand out was former Amateur Ski Champion Harry Robinson who took two straight wins in the Pro Sprint class over the reigning champion Simon Gill at second round of the AquaX UK Championships in Porthcawl, South Wales.

Gill made a good start in Race 1 holding off a strong challenge from the youngster, but an intermittent fuel pump problem dropped him back to fourth behind Phil Pope and Mollie Fearn.

As the race continued, Robinson extended his lead over the trailing pack to take his second race win of the championship. Gill managed to claw back second place from Phil Pope after he succumbed to mechanical problems and Mollie Fearn took an untimely swim and lost her ski in the closing laps.

In Race 2 Simon Gill was back out on a borrowed ski and took the lead from the off, but the decision to change skis between races also comes with a two-position penalty, so even if the reigning champ won the race the best he could hope for was a third-place finish.
Gill managed to maintain the lead, but Harry Robinson was hot on his heals for the duration of the 12min + 1 lap race. When the scores were settled it was Robinson with two wins and a 13-point lead over Gill going into today’s final two races. Phil Pope sits in third.

Racing kicks off at 12.30 today with Pro Sprint Race 3.
