P1 AquaX

AquaX is the fastest growing personal watercraft championship in the world. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, yet challenging race format that appeals to today’s personal watercraft users.

This year the program will include the unveiling of a professional level race series and expansion of two further championships in the Great Lakes region of the USA and in Southeast Asia.

2017 Season Preview: Aero Aswar

With a few weeks to go before the 2017 P1 AquaX USA Pro Series we preview the riders in the hunt for the title, starting with the world number one.

Aero is one of the most talented riders in the world having led the 2016 P1 AquaX Pro Series for the majority of the season before fellow Yamaha teammate Chris MacClugage snatched the title from his grasp at the final round in Fort Lauderdale.

The Indonesian superstar was born in Jakarta in 1994 and embarked on a life of racing at the age of just three, alongside his brother Aqsa, which included, four wheelers, go karts, motocross and jet skis.

Aero was crowned P1 AquaX world number one towards the end of last season after consistently good performances at the top level and will now be looking to keep his position whilst also pushing for that title.

On his list of career achievements are two gold medals at the Asian Beach Games, two US National Championships and one World Championship, both in the Pro Runabout class.

“The 2016 season was a really tough but fun season,” said Aero. “It was great to meet new people from the sport and also come up against those frequent faces too. Compared to previous years you could say that it was not my greatest but it was definitely very memorable.”

It would be a surprise to not see Aero fighting it out for the championship title once again and we will see him riding the new Yamaha GP1800 on one of his favourite race venues in Daytona Beach later this month.
