P1 AquaX

AquaX is the fastest growing personal watercraft championship in the world. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, yet challenging race format that appeals to today’s personal watercraft users.

This year the program will include the unveiling of a professional level race series and expansion of two further championships in the Great Lakes region of the USA and in Southeast Asia.

RACING HISTORY

Growing up in Toronto Canada, Paul spent his childhood summers on Georgian Bay enjoying various watersports and outdoor activities. His father got me Paul amateur boxing at a young age, which taught Paul how to be mentally strong and compete, but it didn't take him long to realise racing was his calling. After years of winning championships in Canada (2014 Runabout Rec Lights Championship & the Masters Ski Stock Stand-Up Class) and showcasing his riding talents nationally, Paul steps into the world of P1 AquaX.

"I got into racing in the late 80's and early 90's when only Kawasaki brand PWC's were raced. My first race boat was a Kawasaki X2, and I have great memories of racing against The Klipper in that class. From there I moved to race Yamaha WaveBlasters with Factory support from Yamaha Canada and Hawaiian Tropic Suncare Products. My association with BRP Sea-Doo was also instrumental in re-launching my racing efforts, when the company introduced the Sea-Doo Spark."

FAVOURITE RACE LOCATION

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

"The area has always felt like a second home to me. My key sponsor Riva Racing is positioned in the area, and I always feel very well supported when I'm in that city."

HIGHLIGHTS

"The highlights of the 2016 season are many. Moving into the Pro 300 class directly from the Rec Lites class was a large step for me. Having Yamaha USA step up and provide true racer support made it possible to be competitive in my first year in the class. Every round I picked up valuable information from watching other racers in the class who had been successful in previous seasons. Finishing in the top 15 was an accomplishment as well as being ranked in the top 50 riders in the world!"

GOALS

Paul hopes to increase his seat time on the Yamaha FX SVHO this year and plans on making this happen by having his equipment in Florida during the off season. Ultimately, Paul sees himself running a large racing team for one of the manufacturers!

RANDOM FACT

Paul is a licenced Private Investigator when he's not ripping up the race course.

"My favorite job is being a dad to my daughter Charlotte, and can't wait until she's old enough to launch her own race career!"
